Anthropic sets no experience prerequisite for any of the four Claude certifications. Anyone may sit any track. The restriction sits at registration, not at eligibility. Booking an exam requires a work email on a company domain belonging to a Claude Partner Network organisation, and a personal email address will not work at sign-in.
So the question is rarely whether you are qualified. It is whether you can reach the booking page.
There is no qualification requirement
Anthropic publishes a recommended audience for each track, not an entry requirement. Nobody checks your job title, your degree, your employer or your years of experience. The exam guides describe who each credential is designed for and then leave the choice to the candidate.
You do not need to hold a foundations credential before attempting a professional one, and you do not need to take the tracks in order.
The real gate is registration
Anthropic routes certification registration through the Claude Partner Network. Sign-in requires an email address on a recognised company domain that belongs to a partner organisation. Anthropic states plainly that personal email addresses will not work.
This is why people report reaching a login screen and going no further. The block is not a rejection of the candidate. It is a domain check that runs before anyone looks at who you are.
Three routes open to an individual
Your employer is already a partner
The simplest route. Use your work email, sign in, register and pay. Many people do not know their employer is in the network, so it is worth asking before assuming you are locked out.
Register your own organisation
You can apply to the Claude Partner Network as a company in your own right. This suits a consultancy or an established business with its own domain. It takes time, and partner applications have not always been open.
Go through an existing partner
A partner organisation can provision an individual account on its domain and register the candidate for the exam. This is the route Timo operates through Amotion AI, which is a member of the Claude Partner Network. The full explanation is here.
What happens if you try with a personal address
You will not receive a sign-in code, and you will not reach a payment step. There is no error explaining why, which is why so many people search for whether the exams are open to the public at all. They are, but only through a partner domain.
Choosing a track when you have no background
The word Foundations does not mean beginner. Architect Foundations is an architect-level exam that tests design judgement.
- You do not write code. Take CCAO-F, Associate Foundations. It covers Claude and Claude Projects for professional work.
- You build software with Claude. Take CCDV-F, Developer Foundations.
- You design Claude systems. Take CCAR-F, Architect Foundations.
- You own enterprise delivery end to end. Take CCAR-P, Architect Professional.

Common questions
Can anyone take the Claude Certified Architect exam?
There is no experience prerequisite, so anyone may sit it. Registration is the restriction: it requires a work email on a company domain belonging to a Claude Partner Network organisation.
Is the Claude certification only for partners?
The certification itself is not limited to partner staff, but registration runs through the Claude Partner Network. An individual can register through a partner organisation that provisions them an account on its domain.
Is the Claude Certified Architect exam open to the public?
Anyone can sit the exam, but not everyone can book it directly. Anthropic requires a partner company domain email at sign-in and does not accept personal email addresses.
Do I need to pass Foundations before taking Professional?
No. Anthropic does not require the tracks to be taken in order and sets no prerequisite credential for the Professional exam.
Do I need to be a developer to get Claude certified?
No. CCAO-F, Claude Certified Associate Foundations, is designed for business and knowledge-work professionals and does not require you to write code.
