The certification exams themselves are paid: US$99 for Associate Foundations, US$125 for Developer Foundations and Architect Foundations, and US$175 for Architect Professional, before any partner-tier discount. The published exam fees

All four exams run 120 minutes through Anthropic's exam partner, either online with a proctor or at a test centre. All four need a scaled score of 720 out of 1,000. The credential lasts 12 months. Renewing on time is free.

Claude certification discounts by partner tier

Claude certification discounts depend on the Claude Partner Network tier of the organisation you register through. Registered-tier partners pay the full exam price. Select, Preferred and Global Premier partners get 50% off, applied automatically at checkout, and the discount also applies to retakes. Through 31 December 2026, Global Premier partners receive 100% off; after that, their standard 50% discount applies. Anthropic says a partner voucher storefront is still being developed. Check the amount shown before you pay.

Why each track costs a different amount

Anthropic prices the four exams in three bands: $99, $125 and $175. Choose the certification that matches your work; the exam fee and scope differ by track.

CCAO-F at $99 is the entry-level credential. Its 60 items cover everyday Claude use, responsible AI and practical business workflows.

CCDV-F and CCAR-F at $125 both demand applied skill. CCDV-F packs 53 items into the same 120 minutes, and the items ask about API integration, tool use, agent design and token management. CCAR-F has 60 items that test system design, deployment patterns, security boundaries and multi-model orchestration.

CCAR-P at $175 is the most expensive exam, with 63 items at a professional bar. It covers advanced architecture decisions, production systems and operational trade-offs. The number of questions does not establish their weight in the official scaled score.

What people actually spend

The published exam fee is the starting point, not the total. Most candidates spend more than the exam fee alone. Here is what a realistic budget looks like for three common paths.

Path one: partner employer covers everything. Some employers pay the exam fee and provide exam preparation resources. Cost to the candidate: nothing. This is the cheapest path but only available to people already at a partner company with a training budget.

Path two: Timo skills assessment, self-study, pass first time. Timo Platform membership pricing and access terms are shown on the payment page. The exam fee is separate and paid to Anthropic. CCAO-F carries a $99 exam fee. CCDV-F and CCAR-F each carry a $125 exam fee. CCAR-P carries a $175 exam fee. You pay Timo for the stated membership period and Anthropic for the exam booking. The two charges are separate invoices from different organisations.

The numbers above separate every charge by who bills it. Timo invoices you for platform membership. Anthropic invoices you for each exam booking. The two organisations never bill on the same invoice.

Before budgeting for Claude certification, check your registration access. Paying the exam fee does not remove the requirement for an eligible partner-company account.

What the fee does not cover

Registration access

The fee is only payable through a Claude Partner Network organisation, using a work email on a recognised company domain. If your employer is not a partner, you need another eligible partner-company account before booking. Retakes

A failed attempt costs the exam fee again. Any partner-tier discount also applies. Anthropic also enforces a wait: 14 days after a first failure, 30 after a second, 90 after a third, with four attempts maximum per exam in a rolling 12 months.

What two attempts cost in practice: CCAR-P at $175 means $350 paid to Anthropic for two exam bookings. Two CCAO-F attempts at $99 means $198. Two CCDV-F or CCAR-F attempts at $125 means $250. If your Timo access has expired between attempts, the exam fee and Timo's membership fee remain separate charges billed by different organisations.

Training

Anthropic publishes free official course material for each track. It is good, and it is enough for some people. What it does not include is a reviewed practical project, a person to ask when you are stuck, or a mock exam that tells you whether you are ready.

Your preparation budget depends on the resources you choose; Timo membership and any provider charges are separate.

Renewal

Twelve months after you pass, the credential expires. Renewing on time costs nothing. You review what has changed, then take a free assessment set by Anthropic. Only a lapsed credential means paying the full exam fee again. The renewal rules are here.

Retake costs: what you pay when you fail

Anthropic does not bundle retakes into the first exam fee. Every attempt, including every retake, costs the exam fee again. Any partner-tier discount applies to retakes the same way. The waiting periods are fixed and enforced by Anthropic's exam partner.

Anthropic caps the attempts at four per exam track in a rolling 12-month window. After four attempts, you must wait until fewer than four fall within the preceding 12 months before another attempt is allowed. The cap is per track, so failing CCAR-P does not block you from booking CCAR-F.

Two CCAR-P attempts means $350 paid to Anthropic for exams alone. Two CCAO-F attempts means $198. Two CCDV-F or CCAR-F attempts means $250. The exam fee and Timo's membership fee are separate charges billed by different organisations.

Plan for a retake when you budget. Another attempt adds an exam fee and a waiting period, so allow for both the cost and the time.

The waiting schedule matters because it stretches the total timeline. A candidate who fails CCAR-P twice waits 44 days between the first and third attempt. Someone who fails three times waits 134 days across four attempts. The limit is four attempts per exam in any rolling 12-month period. Plan your study timeline around these windows, not just the exam date. Budget both the money and the calendar time before you book.

Comparing Timo's cost to other routes

If your employer is already in the Claude Partner Network, you may pay nothing for exam prep resources. Some partner employers cover the exam fee too. Most cover at least the official preparation resources. Ask your manager or L&D team before paying for anything yourself.

If your employer is not a partner, your options are limited. You can ask your company to apply to the Partner Network, but approval is not guaranteed. You can wait for Anthropic to open public registration, which has no announced date. If your employer is not a Claude partner, you can enroll as a consultant with Timo by Amotion AI, get certified as a Claude Certified Architect or Developer, and work on enterprise AI projects.

Retakes and appointment changes

You can cancel or reschedule through Pearson VUE at least 48 hours before your appointment without charge. Anthropic's policy allows a full refund for cancellation in that window, but cancelling the Pearson appointment does not issue a refund automatically. If you no longer plan to take the exam, email certifications-support@anthropic.com to request the refund. Late cancellation or a no-show forfeits the fee. Check your confirmation after any change.

A retake requires another official exam fee. Late changes or a missed appointment may also require another fee under the current exam rules. Cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours before the appointment.
